Bradner is a community in the rural northwest of Abbotsford, wedged north of the TransCanada Highway and south of the Fraser River. It was first settled in 1895 as a homestead of Thomas Bradner from whom the community got its name.
It has largely remained an agricultural area and become famous for its annual floral show. This festival of blooms started in 1928, with its colorful display of daffodils growing from just 10 types to more than 400 varieties today.
A yearly May Day parade is another showcase of the strong community spirit in Bradner. In each celebration, a May Queen is chosen from among the community’s sixth-grade students.
The community is home to the historic Bradner Elementary School, which opened in 1894. It was first housed in a log building that had served as a horse stable of Thomas Bradner.
This school near the northwest corner of Haverman and Bradner Road is adjacent to the Bradner Hall. This hall is a fully licensed event center catering to various social functions, meetings, and sports events.
A pocket park is also located on the corner of Bradner and Haverman Road. A softball field is the centerpiece of this facility.
Community life in Bradner likewise revolves around its vineyards and wineries. Invariably, these are family-owned and feature scenic tasting rooms for their artisanal wines.
Charming local bistros add a bit of the urban touch to Bradner. One of these establishments, Tanglebank Gardens Brambles Bistro, even has an attached shop where fresh produce is available.
The residents of Bradner enjoy proximity to several recreational facilities around their community. One of these, the Greater Vancouver Zoo, is just around a 10-minute drive west of their residences. The Glen Valley Regional Park is also about the same driving distance north of Bradner.
Bradner residents are likewise just some 10 minutes away from Pagoda Ridge or the GreenTee Country Club. The 18-hole golf course here plays at just under 7,000 yards, with six tee options for varying golfing skills.
The real estate properties available in Bradner include some vacant land and single-family detached homes. These residences come in a wide range of sizes and varied styles.
